The population of Smyrna Georgia is around 52,000 people. That number has been steadily growing over the years, but it's still small compared to other nearby cities like Sandy Springs with nearly 100,000 residents or Kennesaw with a whopping 67,000 people living there.

Smyrna was named one of the best places to live by Money Magazine in 2016. The magazine cited the strong economy and high quality of life as reasons why they chose it as one of their top ten picks for 2017.

Smyrna Georgia is only about 8 miles north of downtown Atlanta but there are plenty of people who commute in every day due to traffic congestion on I-75 during rush hour times (7-9 AM & 4-6 PM).

There are many hospitals in the Smyrna area. The closest to Smyrna is Kennestone Hospital, which is about 5 miles away. Kennestone is a general medical and surgical facility that treats patients through outpatient services, inpatient care, and surgical procedures. Other nearby hospitals include Saint Joseph's Hospital (7 miles away), Cobb Hospital (8 miles away), and North Fulton Hospital (10 miles away).

Smyrna was founded in 1832 by Scottish immigrant Hugh Thompson Boyd. He named the town after the ancient Greek city of Smyrna.

Smyrna's economic growth has been steady since its founding. In 1872, the Cumberland Road was built through Smyrna and increased traffic to the town by railroads and stagecoaches which brought many new visitors to the area.

In 1876 a railroad depot was built in Smyrna which helped further increase economic growth in the city. In addition to railroads and stagecoaches, automobiles became popular transportation methods around this time period as well, which contributed even more traffic to the town.

In 1914, Cobb County created its first public library system with a branch located in Smyrna at Central School (now known as Central Middle School).

The 1940s brought about World War II when many men from Cobb County enlisted in military service during this time period; however most returned home safely after serving their country honorably during wartime conditions."
